Hello, I'm Andrew. I have experience working with men, women, and couples from a person-centered, compassionate, psycho-dynamic perspective. As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (MN 988) with a Master’s degree in Addiction Studies, I utilize evidenced-based approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, Internal Family Systems, among others. I have advanced training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy which is highly effective in relieving the emotionally painful somatic memory of traumatic experiences. In addition, I am experienced in psychedelic assisted therapy preparation and integration and partner with Journey Clinical to provide Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy.
One of my strengths as a therapist is the diversity of my life experience. In addition to my clinical expertise, I brings years of life experience to my practice including teaching, performing arts, communication, and business. Behavioral health is actually my third career. In the late 1980s I studied theater at the Ecole de Theatre Lassaad in Brussels, Belgium, completing a two year conservatory degree, after which I co-founded Theater du Jour in New York City. Creating, performing, teaching, touring for the next eight years, I had the opportunity to connect with people of all ages and from all walks of life, and I became acutely aware of the common themes and desires of all people: to feel seen, heard, and loved. To feel like we belong. My second career path led me into business where I started a home remodeling business and worked with a partner throughout the Twin Cities while I pursued a Bachelors degree in psychology through Northwestern College. I then went on to complete a Master of Addiction Studies degree at the Hazelden Graduate School of Addiction Studies. Recovery from addiction is also part of my life story and I have been engaged in my own healing process for over 30 years.
I have always been fascinated by life stories and by each person's unique perspective on the world. I also know that we all carry wounds that can inhibit our ability to flourish and I am committed to working with people to help them heal in order to move more and more into a fully integrated state of being, a state that I call "the undefended self".
